Employee surveys

Companies keen to improve their performance need to focus not only on providing optimal working conditions but also on building the mutual trust and loyalty of employees.

Key issues to address include:

  • Satisfaction:
The basic measure - overall satisfaction with the job, working environment, management etc.
  • Loyalty:
Employees’ willingness to continue working with the company, whether they would recommend it as a good place to work.
  • Engagement:
Employee commitment, willingness to participate in changes or to defend the company.
  • Motivation:
the extent to which employees are motivated to perform well.
  • Care:
the extent to which employees feel cared for by their employer, their physical and emotional wellbeing.

All the above are key parameters in the relationships between companies and their employees giving an insight into those factors most important to their human resources policy.

ICMA combines these measures to produce its People Performance Index (PPI) which gives a clear indication of its success as an employer and may also be compared with the PPI of competitors, of similar companies or of divisions within the same company.
